Review: Rainbow Vacuum Cleaner

I think most of the people in this world use a vacuum cleaner or know what is one lolx.Last month 20 May,I have a demo from a saleswoman from Rainbow. The product is not bad as it cure asthma with certified asthma & allergy friendly™ by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America*( seem like a big shot). The product presentation take like 2 hour plus as she explain to me from head to toe as if i am a beginner in VC lolx.

Function
Rainbow vacuums operate as bagless vacuums that filter impurities in your carpet and rugs through a water filtration system. Airborne allergens are also filtered through a HEPA neutralizing system installed in the most recent versions of the Rainbow vacuum. Rainbow vacuums operate much like other vacuums in that they suck dirt and debris out of soiled surfaces. They differ from other vacuums in that they do not lose suction over time, because there is no bag attached and the soil is filtered through a water canister located under the motor head. Rainbow vacuums also come with a variety of attachments such as crevice, blind, upholstery, shampoo and stairs cleaners. The shampoo wand and stair step attachments are sold separately from the traditional tools. Rainbow systems can also disperse a variety of scents in the air while filtering allergens. These also are sold separately.

The good thing is that this machine have a HEPA filter and i believe this is the best filter we have in the market.Refer to this link http://www.webmd.com/allergies/hepa-filters-for-allergies which I 100% agree. The bad part about this VC is their HEPA is not permanent.I need to change it every few month basic or else the VC is bad coz suction is blocked if the HEPA is not clean.Argh after spending few K on the machine and I still need to pay every few month to replace the HEPA(100++ dollar). That my number one turn off. Secondly, the VC is good but it weight about 15KG. Image you walking around carrying 15 kg to clean your house.I bet it going be a white elephant in my storeroom....With that being say, i told the saleswoman if you can reduce the weight by half or make the HEPA filter washable i might consider to buy. Than the unexpected happen, she just say thank you, pack up and go.Does that mean she think what i ask is too much???

 Considerations

Some issues that consumers have with Rainbow vacuums are weight, noise and cost. The most current vacuum mode, the Rainbow E-2 system, weighs approximately 15 kg with a full water canister. This can cause a problem for users who are unable to lift and pull that much weight. With a strong motor that can move 80 cubic feet of air per minute, the Rainbow E-2 system is powerful. The power in the motor can cause some excess noise. The average cost of the Rainbow E-2 system, according to mummysg.com , is between $3,000 and $4,000 per system as of September 2010. This does not include optional items such as the stairs nozzle or the shampooing nozzle. However, according to GreatVacs.com, it is not unusual for Rainbow vacuums to last 30 years or longer.

For those who have buy Rainbow VC,here is some tips for you guys.

 Prevention/Solution

Short of altering the design of the Rainbow system, which is strongly not recommended, you cannot change the weight and noise level of the vacuum. The issue of cost is individual between the authorized distributor and the consumer. You can handle more routine issues such as dirt buildup in the hose connection site through routine yearly maintenance service for the vacuum. You can better maintain the water canister through a thorough rinsing in cold water after each use and wiped out until dry before storing separate from the motor housing.

History

  • The Rainbow vacuum has been around for a long time in terms of original manufacturing. The Rexair, L.L.C. company produces Rainbow vacuums out of its Cadillac, Michigan, plant. Since 1929, new Rainbow vacuums have been sold directly by authorized distributors through in-home demonstrations.
Here is my honest review about them.Next week review is on Kirby Vacuum Cleaner.
